Stealing pictures from Jamie..

I liked these pictures that Jamie took with his phone- just little bits of everyday life.

Snow day!!

Yay, it's a snow day! There's nothing better than hearing "school is cancelled" on the radio, then rolling over and going back to sleep. Unfortunately I proceeded to have the craziest dream, in which the world was being taken over by robots who were turning people into evil mud creatures.

The girls and I decided to make pretzels (that were on my menu plan last week and I never got around to making).  They were great helpers!

Time for a banana break- baking is hard work!

While we were busy baking, Quentin went on an expedition in the snow.  It was a treacherous journey, but he made it back alive.

We then had a yummy brunch of strawberry breakfast braid (the girls helped make this also), bacon and eggs.

By the time we were finished eating, the dough had risen, and everyone helped shape the pretzels.

And here is the finished product.  Yeah, I know they are a little too puffy, but hey, it was our first time.  Next time we'll know to roll them out thinner.

Now Rachel is napping, and the big kids and I are going to play a board game.  If I get feeling really ambitious, I may change out of my jammies. I love snow days!

Just another day...

This morning as I stumbled into Quentin's room to wake him up (I'm not a morning person), this is the sight that greeted me.  Exactly one hundred balloons covered the floor of his room.  The funny thing is I had no reaction to it at all and barely noticed it.  Apparently I'm so used to seeing unusual things in this house that nothing fazes me now.  He tells me that he's taking a picture of it to school for the 100th day of school.  Why?  I don't know, and I don't even bother to ask anymore...

More Chinese New Year fun

Last night we attended a lovely get-together with our playgroup families. We all had a great time- wonderful food, a chocolate fountain, Rock Band, and 20 awesome kiddos all behaving beautifully! Thanks Debbie!

How do these Mondays roll around so fast? It's amazing! I am loving menu planning, by the way. It's working out great, and I feel much more peaceful/ less stressed not having to wonder what I'm going to make for supper each night.

Wednesday - Easy Chicken Parmesan, rotini, salad

Thursday - Prime rib with horseradish cream sauce, baked potatoes, green beans

Friday - Breakfast for supper - blueberry pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs

Saturday - Garlic Top Sirloin Pot Roast in the slow cooker

Sunday - Mulligitawny soup (Family Fun magazine this month), Seven-grain bread

Some other recipes for the week: Crockpot steel-cut oats, Playgroup granola bars (for the kids' lunchboxes), Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins ( after-school snack and lunchboxes)
