The girls and I took off for PEI for a few days with my sister and her girls. We had a great time!

Two years ago today...

Two years ago today, halfway around the world, a woman I will probably never meet gave birth to my daughter. For reasons we can only guess at, this mother was unable to keep her new baby, and gave her up four days later. I am sure that she is thinking of that tiny baby today, wondering where she is now and what she is doing. This woman seems so distant and unreal to me, yet she exists and she will always be an important part of who Rachel is. I will pray for her today, that she will have peace and happiness, and that somehow she will know that her daughter is safe and loved.

This morning we celebrated Rachel's 2nd birthday (she turns two on Tuesday). She had a great time playing with her friends and cousins and opening her presents.

Happy Birthday Uncle Elmo

Today we celebrated Jamie's Uncle Elmo's 90th birthday. It was a beautiful day, and we had a nice time visiting with lots of family. It's such a joy to see Uncle Elmo still spry and fiddlin' away at 90 years old!

We had a nice evening eating out at a seafood buffet, then walking along the riverfront.
